How about a Caribbean swimming holiday? Idyllic I would say. Imagine days of sun and warm Caribbean water. Even better, imagine spending time at a Caribbean swimming retreat with two Olympians – Keri-Anne Payne (a double World Champion and Olympic Silver medalist in open water swimming) and David Carry (a three time Olympian and double Commonwealth Champion).
This is an opportunity to exchange swimming in municipal swimming pools in freezing cold water with days of swimming in crystal clear waters, shimmering warm and welcoming under the tropical sun. That’s Caribbean swimming for you – to be more precise, in the waters surrounding the small and beautiful unspoiled Caribbean island of Nevis.
Caribbean swimming holiday for all abilities
The two Olympians are running a Caribbean swimming retreat from 21-28 March 2018, based at the only Nevis historic plantation inn to be set on the beach. Swimmers of all abilities are catered for – from beginners to seasoned swimmers. In fact, anyone who is looking to improve their swimming in both the sea and pool, as well as swimmers who are keen to tackle their next swimming challenge. The highlight, and challenge, of the week is an opportunity to participate in the annual St Kitts-Nevis cross channel swim.
The Caribbean swimming pool work is all about swimming technique, focusing on breathing, body position and propulsion. Sessions in the sea are aimed at improving open water swimming skills. This is where Keri-Anne and David pass on their knowledge of sighting, buoy turns, and swimming in groups. Participants will receive one-to-one coaching and be given a personal plan for continued improvement.
