There are five different categories of room – from small standard rooms up to different spacious DeLuxe Rooms and Suites to the very spacious Grand Villa – perfect for families as it can accommodate up to nine guests. Most of the DeLuxe rooms are located in the elegant Great House with its deep balcony, the Supreme Rooms are located in the charming Caribbean cottages and all have their own private plunge pools and ocean view patio.
The Royal Palm Restaurant at Ottley’s Plantation Inn hotel, St Kitts
The cuisine at Ottley’s Plantation Inn is superb and the setting is gorgeous. Whichever table you dine at in The Royal Palm restaurant you’ll be pleased with the views – of the extensive lawns with either the Atlantic Ocean, the cloud-capped Mount Liamuiga, or Ottley’s Great House as backdrop. Subtle lighting at night – candlelit tables, garden lights, and illuminated pool – makes the restaurant setting enchanting and romantic, and the views while having breakfast are breathtaking, colourful, and far-reaching. There is an a la carte menu as well as a fixed price three-course dinner, and the dinner menu changes nightly.
Activities on site and nearby Ottley’s Plantation Inn hotel
There is a 65ft swimming pool with sun terrace equipped with sun loungers where you can kick back in style – it’s located near The Royal Palm, the hotel’s restaurant. There is a hard surface tennis court (lit for evening play), croquet, bikes, and walking trails through the hotel’s rainforest ravine where early morning and late afternoon you’ll probably see a number of Velvet monkeys. The hotel operates a daily shuttle service to a choice of two beaches, while Basseterre (the capital of St Kitts) and Royal St Kitts Golf Club are within a short drive away. Mango Orchard Spa, namely one beauty treatment room using all the floor space within a quaint Caribbean ‘cottage’, is set on the edge of and overlooks the rainforest ravine in the grounds of Ottley’s Plantation. Treatments are available by appointment (beauty therapist is not resident on-site). Guided walks and more strenuous hiking tours can be arranged as well as ziplining adventure tours (off-site). Special comments on Ottley’s Plantation Inn, St Kitts, from the Editor of Active Caribbean
From the minute I arrived, I loved this elegant plantation house and setting – the long sweeping drive and extensive lawns, the towering palms and fabulous sea views, not to mention the lush rainforest, the serenity, ambiance, and genuine friendliness of everyone I met there. I stayed in a Supreme Room in one of the Royal Suite cottages… it was idyllic, beautifully furnished with colonial style mahogany furniture, and I had a private balcony complete with plunge pool, comfortable chairs, and fabulous views – views which I hated leaving and cherished from a garden seat, set in the middle of an expanse of lawn, between 6-7 every morning of my stay. I cannot wait to return… is that recommendation enough?
