Nevis Adventure Activities Travel Guide
Will this Caribbean destination suit the adventurer in you?
This Nevis Adventure Activities Travel Guide is essential reading for anyone planning to visit the country for an active Caribbean vacation. We hope it will help you decide if this destination suits the adventurer in you.
Nevis in a nutshell
Unspoilt Nevis is friendly tranquil, charming, and a relaxing Caribbean island to spend time on. It is a stone’s throw away from St Kitts, its sister island, where the international airport is located. You can hop over from St Kitts to Nevis by plane but, quite frankly, with such a short ferry ride it’s hardly worth it. The official name of the twin island country is “The Federation of Saint Christopher and Nevis” but, although so close to each other, the islands are quite different.
Nevis is spread over just 36 square miles, has no cruise line terminal and no major airport. Bliss. Charlestown, the main town, is quaint – pop into the museum, it’s even quainter. Nevis is a volcanic island and the volcano makes picturesque viewing from Pinney’s Beach as the cloud disappears from the peak – this reaches to a height of 3,234ft. Dense rainforest covers the higher hills.
Why visit Nevis
The island of Nevis is FRIENDLY, uncrowded, and peaceful. If you appreciate quality of life, Nevis is for you – there are only just over 400 hotel rooms on the entire island. There are some lovely small hotels (stylish and friendly) on the island as well as the elegant Four Seasons Nevis luxury resort. If you’re looking for a two-base Caribbean holiday on unspoilt islands, then St Kitts & Nevis make the perfect pair.
While you’re in Nevis
Visit the botanical gardens, they are lovely, and have lunch there – it was good when we were there. Search out the beach bars on Pinney’s Beach, they serve some wicked cocktails – the killer bee cocktail is suitably named! If you play golf, you must play the Four Seasons golf course – it is quite a challenge and has spectacular views. Explore the island on a Nevis guided bike tour, or rent a bike and discover the island for yourself – the roads are deserted. Definitely take the ferry to St Kitts for the day and take a tour around the island, there are some historical sites well worth visiting, and go rainforest ziplining while you’re there for an adrenaline kick if you need one.
