Caribbean Water Parks & Experiences
Discover Caribbean water parks and experiences for lots of family fun
If you are looking for Caribbean water parks and other family water-based experiences and adventures we hope this page will point you in the right direction. There are a number of family-friendly hotels and resorts throughout the region which have Caribbean water parks and water playground on site. Some hotels offer use of these water parks within your all-inclusive package, others charge an entrance fee – sometimes charging resident guests as well as non-residents, so do check before you book. You’ll also find some resorts that are really TOTALLY geared up for Caribbean family vacations – and they cater for children from age 3 to 12 as well as Teens age 13 to 17. There are often kids’ clubs at hotels too, so that means Mum and Dad can chill out well away from the kids.
Caribbean water parks
Kids can really have lots of fun in Caribbean water parks which offer a good range of water activities. Lazy rivers are almost de rigeur (SO very relaxing for grown-ups too!); there are all sorts of water slides, spurting fountains, water cannons, dumping buckets, easy slides for kiddies as well as scary ones for older kids. For the tiny tots in the family there is a Mayan themed waterpark on Paradise Island in the BAHAMAS. There are all sorts of slides, a lazy river, fountains, and an exciting water slide that travels through a glass tunnel through a lagoon full of sharks. There’s a huge pirate ship to climb on, a pirate-themed area with swim up bars (for kids), a suspension bridge for added fun, and a surf simulator to test boogie board skills.
So the destinations you need to consider for your vacation, where you’ll find the best family-friendly hotels with Caribbean water parks are in ST LUCIA, the TURKS & CAICOS ISLANDS, and JAMAICA. Jamaica has Caribbean water parks in hotels in different areas – Montego Bay, Negril and Ocho Rios. The Punta Cana area in the DOMINICAN REPUBLIC boasts a hotel with five-star Caribbean water parks and playground for the kids. In Cancun in the Yucatan Peninsula, MEXICO, there’s a huge fun-filled water park with towering water slides – a giant wet bubble to climb on, a fast twister water slide, a wave pool and – of course – a crystal clear lazy river. There is an exclusive pool for children, a scary Kamikaze slide, a giant inner tube ride, and a double space bowl.
Caribbean water experiences – submarines
A fun way to see Caribbean fish and coral reefs – especially for young kids who are too young to dive or snorkel – is to go on a submarine excursion adventure. Imagine how thrilled the kids will be to see possibly sharks, stingrays, maybe a sea turtle, up close. The mini submarines dive to a depth of around 140ft and the kids will see hundreds of colourful fish and different kinds of coral. Several Caribbean destinations offer mini-submarine tours which children might enjoy, but check before you book if there is a minimum height required. Destinations where you can enjoy this water experience are: ARUBA, BARBADOS, the CAYMAN ISLANDS, CURACAO, ST MARTIN and MEXICO (Isla Mujeres, Cancun & Cozumel). You can even control your own mini-mini-Sub in the Bahamas! You can descend around 15ft to see the fish and coral reef.
Caribbean SNUBA underwater experience
Kids who can swim can try a guided SNUBA adventure at a number of Caribbean destinations. SNUBA is a mix between diving and snorkelling – there is an air tank which floats on a raft on the surface of the water so there is no need for a tank on your back. Generally children from the age of 8 can try it as long as they can swim unassisted and are totally at home in the water. You should always be accompanied by a certified guide. Places you can try SNUBA diving are – ARUBA, the BAHAMAS (Nassau Paradise Island, Bimini Island), BELIZE (San Pedro Island), CAYMAN ISLANDS (Grand Cayman), COSTA RICA (Tamarindo), JAMAICA (Montego Bay, Negril, Ocho Rios, MEXICO (Cancun), ST KITTS, ST MARTIN, ST LUCIA (Pigeon Island), TURKS & CAICOS, and the US Virgin Islands (St Thomas and St John).
